2006 EOS Saco River Adventure


EOS is planning to return to the river once again for it's eighth annual Saco River Canoe Adventure on Thursday, August 24th with a rain date of Friday, August 25th. Our group is planning to canoe and kayak from the Saco Bound Base in Center Conway, NH to the landing approximately 11 mile downstream. Saco Bound provides rentals of canoes and kayaks and a shuttle service back to the base camp. For everyone who doesn't own a canoe or kayak, rentals from Saco Bound are available for about $26.00. If you are interested in joining in on the fun filled adventure contact Michael Routhier by Friday August 18th.

     


    

Last year's adventure was a great success with a strong turn out of people. Our adventure bound group floated and paddled down the Saco in a small armada of canoes and kayaks for five fun filled hours full of great times and memories. We hope you can join us for this year's fun! Everyone is invited to come so please pass along the invitation. Family and friends are welcome. The Saco river is a very clean, calm, shallow river which is only about two hours from Durham.



Canoe Trip Schedule 

         7:45am    Meet at CSRC GIS Lab and arrange carpooling, canoe
                   transit, etc....

	 8:00am    Set off promptly from UNH.

         9:15am    Meet in Whittier NH for breakfast at McDonalds on Rt.16.

	 9:45am    Set off from McDonalds.

	10:45am	   Meet at Saco Bound Base Camp in North Conway NH, rent
   		   necessary canoes and drive to the canoe put in dock.

	11:45pm    Put in our canoes and begin paddling.

	 1:00pm    Have picnic lunch on a sand bar.

   	 5:00pm	   Take out our boats and catch shuttle back to the Saco
                   Bound Base Camp.

         6:30pm    Meet for dinner in North Conway at predesignated location.
If you're interested in comming with us please be sure to let Michael at mike@eos.sr.unh.edu know so that he can help to coordinate carpooling and the sharing of canoes. Also, for those who are interested, some of us are planning on stopping for dinner at a designated restaurant after our day of canoeing for an excellent dinner and huge hot fudge sundaes. Yum!!!!

Directions to Saco Bound Base Camp


1. Head North on Madbury Rd.
2. Cross Rt.4
3. Follow Madbury Rd 1/2 mile
4. Turn Right onto Rt.155
5. Follow Rt.155 to Rt. 16 N
6. Follow Rt.16 N ~80 miles
7. Drive into Conway, NH.
8. Take Rt. 113 East from lights
9. Follow 113 East for appx. 5 miles
10. Saco Bound will be on your right
