Preliminaries:

Launching ScanWizard PPC 3.24 from Adobe Photoshop LE

1. Start photoshop LE. Go to the File Menu, choose Import, then select ScanWizard PPC 3.24 from the submenu that appears.

2. The first time you launch ScanWizard PPC 3.24, you will be prompted to perform color-matching operations. Then the ScanWizard PPC 3.24 interface appears.

3. When ScanWizard PPC 3.24 launches, the Preview and Settings windows will appear. To see the Scan Job and information windows, go to the View menu and choose the Show Scan Job window and Show info Window commands.


Exiting ScanWizard PPC 3.24

1. Go to the the File menu in the Preview window.

2. Choose the Quit command, or use the Apple+Q combination keys on your keyboard.



The Preview Window:

1. The MENU BAR includes the different menus for controlling and operating the scanner.

2. The OVERVIEW button previews a specific area of the scan bed.

3. the PRESCAN button previews a high-resolution image of the area selected by the Scan Frame tool.

4. The TOOLBAR simplifies the performance of certain tasks. The Toolbar includes the Scan Frame, Zoom, Pane, and Tag windows.

5. The SCAN button starts the scanning process.

6. The SCAN MATERIALS shows your scan material -- Reflective (photos and prints), Positive Transparency, or Negative Film.

7. The OVERVIEW or PRESCAN IMAGE appears in the Preview window when you click the Overview or Prescan button.

8. Drag this corner to RESIZE your preview window.

The Toolbar:

Scan Frame tool: Lets you define the area to be scanned. The part of the overview or prescan image selected by the scan frame is the part of that is scanned when you click the Scan button. To resize a scan frame, drag on the corner or edge of the scan frame surrounding the image and resize the frame to the desired area.

Zoom tool: Zooms in (enlarges) or zooms out (reduces) the view of the overview or prescan image. To zoom in, click inside the image. To zoom our, hold down the Option key and click the mouse.

Pane tool: Scrolls through a zoomed-in image.

Tag Windows tool: Creates tag windows with color information, and lets you set the black point (Ctrl-Click on the black area of the preview) or set the white point (Shift-Click).


The Settings Window:

The settings window allows you to manipulate the image that you are going to scan. You can choose the type of scan you want as well as the resolution you want. The icons at the bottom of the settings windows allow for more advanced manipulation.


How to Scan

Place the image to be scanned on your scanner. If scanning a photo or print, use the scanner's glass bed. If scanning a positive transparency or negative film, use the appropriate template and insert into the scanner's lower bed (for dual-bed scanners); or use the Transparent Media Adapter (for flatbeds).

1. Launch Photoshop LE. from the File menu, choose the import command, then select ScanWizard PPC 3.24 from the submenu.

2. Go to the Preview window and click the SCAN MATERIAL icon. From the submenu that appears, choose the correct scan material type (Reflective, Positive Transparency, or Negative Film.).

3. Click the OVERVIEW button to start an overview, and you will see the image appear in the Preview window.

4. Select the SCAN FRAME tool in the Preview window, and choose the area to be scanned by dragging a rectangle around it. You will see a flashing frame (marquee) around the selected frame.

5. If you like what you see in the Preview window, click the SCAN button to start scanning.
